Its quickly closing in on 30 years now that myself and my 3 sons have been seeing Dr. Doberstein and on occasion various associates at Affinity Dental. He is by far the best Dentist I have ever been to. Best attitude. Best techniques. Best outcomes. He is quite simply just an all around great guy. And after all these years he feels more like a friend then my Dentist. Definitely the kind of guy whose family you would want to have over for a bbq (you know if the Covid numbers weren't so horrendous 😁) Staff included....10 out of 10 for everyone! Affinity Dental really is the best there is. And I have been telling people for almost 30 years now that somehow Dr D has some magical way of inserting the freezing needle that I think I can count on 2 fingers the number of times I have actually felt it! The guy is amazing!!!!!

I went to see Dr Haraphonse at Affinity Dental Clinic on Tuesday afternoon for an implant and I was amazed by his talent patience knowledge and sense of humour. Dr Haraphonse is kind and gentle and put me at ease the moment I sat in his chair. I felt nothing - no pain no pinching no panic from the moment he started to the moment he finished. Dr Haraphonse told me what he was doing every step of the way and talked to me about the instruments he was using and told me little stories about some of them. At the end of the process I saw thread coming out of my mouth and realized he was putting stitches in; I hadn’t felt a thing! Dr Haraphonse and his professional kind and funny assistant made a very stressful time a rather enjoyable one. Many thanks to you both.

Dr Haraphongse is always so friendly and kind. He always explains everything thoroughly and welcomes all questions. He is thorough and accepts only excellent results when working on my teeth. An example being he commented he was not happy with the way a stitch looked and he redid it. To me this is an example of conscientious dentistry. The dental assistant was also very kind and capable. She listens to questions and concerns and if she doesn't know the answer she talks to Dr. Haraphongse and promptly gets back to you even if it means phoning you back. The receptionists are friendly and this is always a very pleasant way to begin a visit.

Best dentist office I’ve been to! For starters the environment is welcoming with friendly staff and the service is impeccable! I went in for a filling and here it was painless efficient and comforting. I left feeling amazing which is not something I think I’d usually think about a visit to the dentist. If I have questions I know that here I will receive a quick and clear response that brings clarity to any concerns I may have! The TV is a nice little bonus to make the visit more enjoyable I feel like they really thought about the people they are welcoming in! Thank you for such wonderful service!

Dr. Haraphongse and his staff are very professional accommodating and compassionate with their clients dental health. The front desk staff are so welcoming and happy to assist with your health benefit billing. I am so grateful for their excellent client care. Our family has been going to Dr. Haraphongse since 2006 and he has been our 4 childrens’ primary dentist for most of their lives. I highly recommend Affinity Dental to families in and around Sherwood Park. 100% satisfied with Dr. Haraphongse and his staff.

I have been a patient here for a long time. Dr. Lau has been my dentist for a number of years. I moved away but when I moved back I came back to this dental practice because of him. My last visit with him went very smoothly. Staff appear to stay for long periods of time. My dental assistant Wendy is simply amazing ! I have very sensitive gums and while the process may take longer I am able to get through it comfortably without pain. Totally have confidence in this team and practice! Thank you 😊

I have been going to Affinity Dental clinic for some years. And I do not plan in moving on. Dr Jay Haraphonsi is a good no nonsence Dentist with a good sense of humor. I would like to thank all the staff I had an emergency appointment with a broken upper molar. I am not comfortable with dental work but the whole process to remove the tooth was amazing. The extraction was quick painless and over before I knew it. The staff was so friendly efficient and professional. I will definitely be back for my checkup and cleaning! Merry Christmas

I have gone to Affinity for several years and have had a lot of work done- some of it very complicated and expensive. They do an excellent job. Love my hygienist there. Joanne. Unfortunately my doctor is taking a step back from his practice so I will be changing to another in the clinic when he does so who I also like very much as he did my implant years ago.

The staff and dentist worked to get me in on the same day I called and extracted my problem wisdom tooth the next day. Made the experience as smooth as possible even had a few laughs with the dentist and his assistant. I would highly recommend Affinity to anyone. It’s now the day after and I am very comfortable.

Dr Jay Haraphongse

General Dentist

Born and raised in Edmonton, Dr. Haraphongse (D.M.D.) graduated in 2001 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree.

After practising dentistry in Minnesota for three years, Dr. Haraphongse returned home and joined Affinity Dental Sherwood Park, where he continues to provide quality care in a caring manner.

Dr. Haraphongse is a general dentist who enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and appreciates the cooperative spirit shared by the team members and doctors at Affinity Dental Sherwood Park.

When he’s not at the practice, Dr. Haraphongse enjoys playing golf, hockey, tennis, and skiing. He is married with two children.

Dr Kenneth Lau

General Dentist

Dr. Lau (B.Sc., D.D.S.) graduated from the University of Alberta in 1993 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He returned to do clinical instructing for a time in the Fixed Prosthodontics Department.

He joined Affinity Dental upon graduation and continues to provide quality, caring general dentistry for the entire family. He especially enjoys providing cosmetic treatment for his patients, including Invisalign. Living and working in Sherwood Park for 29 years builds great relationships with patients who have become friends. He finds it incredibly gratifying to look after the long-term oral health of multiple generations of the same families.

Dr. Lau has been a volunteer for Kindness in Action, a Canadian non-profit charitable organization that provides dental services to people in need in developing countries. He has participated in missions to Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Peru. He has made many friends in these countries and finds international volunteer work very rewarding.

When Dr. Lau is not working, he enjoys volleyball, tennis, and golf in the summer and skiing and snowboarding in the winter. He is married with two children attending college.

Dr Rafael Marroquin

General Dentist

Dr. Rafael Marroquin obtained his dental surgery degree in El Salvador in 2009. He continued his education by receiving his post grad in orthodontics in 2012, he practiced for a number of years in El Salvador before moving to Toronto and began taking the steps to challenge the National Dental Examination board, which resulted in his acceptance into Dalhousie University for the International Dental program.

Dr. Marroquin graduated from Dalhousie University in 2017 with a degree in dental surgery, after which he moved out west in the spring of 2017 and began practicing in Kelowna where he has been for the past few years until 2024.

His wife started dental school in UofA in the fall of 2023 which prompted the move to Edmonton.

Dr. Marroquin enjoys snowboarding in the winter and riding his motorcycle in the summer.
