Oral Devices for Safety & Sleep

Taking care of your oral health can sometimes involve more than brushing, flossing, and visiting the dentist regularly. If you play sports, grind your teeth, or snore, you may benefit from using dental appliances.

At Affinity Dental Sherwood Park, we offer mouth guards that can protect the health of your oral cavity and prevent potential damage to your teeth.

We can also prescribe snoring and sleep apnea devices that can help to reduce disruptions in your sleep by making it easier for you to breathe and get a good night's rest.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances

Sleep disorders can negatively affect your quality of life and well-being by disrupting your sleep.

Snoring may be a condition in its own right, or a symptom of sleep apnea. Snoring is typically caused by the throat tissues relaxing during sleep, narrowing the airway and producing the sound of snoring.

In patients with sleep apnea, the airway becomes totally blocked, either from over-relaxed throat tissues or a blockage. This disorder causes them to stop breathing while asleep, forcing their brain to wake up to resume breathing.

To treat these conditions, our dentists may recommend a dental appliance. These appliances are designed to fit snugly on your teeth and open the airway, adjusting the position of your tongue or jaw. This helps improve your flow of breath and prevents you from waking up throughout the night.

Custom-Made Mouth Guards

We offer custom-made mouth guards that fit over your teeth and are used to help protect the health of your oral cavity.

These custom appliances are made to fit your mouth exactly, making them comfortable and secure.

Sports Guards

If you participate in sports, a mouth guard acts as a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth to protect your smile.

Night Guards

If you grind or clench your teeth during sleep, wearing a mouth guard can help prevent damage and provide pain relief.
